“A chance to cut is a chance to cure” is a quote close to Dr Morné’s heart, with surgery being his primary passion. “The most rewarding thing about doing surgery, is seeing the happy, healthy pet being reunited with their family after being in hospital.”
Dr Morné qualified in 2006 with a BVSc degree from the University of Pretoria and he was the recipient of the Swann-Morton award for Surgical Excellence in 2006. He also holds a Master’s degree from the University of Pretoria in the field of Dolphin Pathology.
Since purchasing Cottage Vet in 2014 he has dedicated his time and skills to complicated orthopaedic and other surgeries. Knee surgery is his favourite and he is an expert in cruciate and patella disease in dogs. He also he loves doing spinal surgery and is one of the few vets in the Helderberg that can offer MRI and CT scans for pets.
Dr Morne lives in Somerset West with his wife Dr Ingrid, his daughter Elizabeth and their three goofy dogs Mowgli, Alvin and Dawie. On the weekends you’ll find him in the great outdoors, mountain biking and stand up paddle boarding. He also spends quite a bit of time watching Paw Patrol with his daughter. Thus, the following quote is particularly relevant to him, “no job is too big, no pup is too small!”
